Brief biography

After graduating from the Faculty of Medicine of Tomsk Medical University in 1991, Olga V. Cheremisina was employed at the Cancer Research Institute of the Russian Academy of Medical Sciences as a junior researcher. In 1997, she successfully defended her Ph.D. thesis titled "Endoscopic laser prevention and treatment of postoperative endobronchial complications in patients with lung cancer" and held the position of Leading Researcher at the Thoracic and Abdominal Department. In 2004, Dr. Cheremisina defended a doctoral thesis titled «Modern approaches to the use of low-intensity laser radiation in patients with lung cancer and precancerous changes in the bronchial mucosa» for an academic degree of Doctor of Medical Sciences. Since 2012, she has been a Head of Endoscopy Department, Cancer Research Institute, Tomsk National Research Medical Center.

Research interests

  • Comprehensive early diagnosis of precancerous lesions and cancer of the respiratory and digestive tracts

  • Development and introduction into clinical practice of an algorithm for monitoring and treating patients with precancerous lesions in the upper and lower digestive and respiratory tracts.

  • Development of endoscopic classifications of the effectiveness of chemoradiotherapy for gastrointestinal and respiratory tract cancer

 

Dr. Cheremisina is an author and co-author of 423 publications, including three monographs, 11 patents, 4 databases.

Dr. Cheremisina is an organizer and lecturer of annual scientific and practical conferences dedicated to the problems of diagnosis, treatment and rehabilitation of patients with precancerous lesions and cancer of the respiratory and gastrointestinal tracts.

Awards and Grants

1.   Project titled «Screening and prevention of precancerous lesions and early gastric cancer» was implemented together with Research Institute of Therapy of Siberian Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences (Novosibirsk), 2015-2017, Co-Principal Investigator.

2.   Project titled "Sporadic, familial and hereditary colorectal cancer: clinical, phenotypic, molecular, morphological characteristics and prognostic value in the development of the disease" was implemented together with Research Institute of Therapy (Novosibirsk), 2015-2018, Co-Principal Investigator.

3.   Project titled "Pathological programming of the immune system by psycho-neurological factors in the inhabitants of Siberia: prospects for the treatment and prevention of cancers and cardiovascular diseases" was implemented together with National Research Tomsk State University, 2015, Co-Investigator.

Olga V. Cheremisina is a Laureate of the Tomsk Region Prize in Education, Science, Health and Culture (2012). For high achievements in scientific and educational activities, she was awarded with Gratitude of Tomsk National Research Medical Center of the Russian Academy of Sciences" (2019), Honorary title "Honored Veteran of the Siberian Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences" (2020).

Olga V. Cheremisisna is a member of the Academic Council of Cancer Research Institute of Tomsk NRMC, a member of the Dissertation Council of Cancer Research Institute, a member of the Coordinating Commission and Expert Council of Cancer Research Institute of Tomsk NRMC. SAhe is a member of the Editorial Board of Siberian Journal of Oncology
