Brief Biography

After graduating from the Medical-Biological Faculty of Siberian State Medical University (Tomsk, 1994) Natalia V. Yunusova was employed at the Cancer Research Institute, Siberian Branch of the Russian Academy of Medical Sciences as a junior research fellow. In 1998, she received her PhD degree. After obtaining her DSc degree in 2007, she was appointed as a Principal Investigator of the Laboratory of Tumor Biochemistry, Tomsk Cancer Research Institute. Since 2014, she has been Professor at the Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology with the Course of Clinical Laboratory Diagnostics, Siberian State Medical University.

Research Interests

Natalia V. Yunusova is an author of more than 150 scientific publications, including 3 books, 4 patents and 3 certificates of database registration, 2 manuals "Workshop on molecular biology" and "Workshop on medical biotechnology with the basics of molecular biology". Under her supervision, 1 thesis for DSc degree and 2 dissertations for PhD degree were defended. Her current research focuses on the study of pathogenetic aspects of malignant neoplasms associated with metabolic syndrome (endometrial and colorectal cancers) as well as the creation of algorithms used for cancer prediction. Her research interest also includes the study of the role of tetraspanins and proteases of extracellular vesicles-exosomes in the invasion and metastasis of colorectal and ovarian cancers.
