Brief Biography

In 1982, Irina V. Kondakova graduated from the Medical-Biological Faculty of Tomsk State Medical Institute. Since 1987, she has been working at the Cancer Research Institute. I.V. Kondakova held the positions of junior, senior and leading research scientist. In 1992, she successfully defended her PhD thesis. In 2005, she defended her doctoral thesis for an academic degree of Doctor of Medical Sciences. In 2008, she was awarded the rank of Professor. Since 1996, Irina V. Kondakova has been a Head of the Laboratory of Tumor Biochemistry.

Research Interests

Irina V. Kondakova is an author of more than 400 scientific publications, including 45 articles in the journals indexed by Web of Science database, more than 90 articles in the journals indexed by Scopus database, 2 books and 11 patents. Under supervision of I.V. Kondakova, the results important both for understanding the fundamental patterns of tumor growth, and in practice for the formation of groups of increased cancer risk were obtained. Her current research focuses on the study of the relationship between molecular parameters and therapy response. She made substantial contribution to the study of novel approaches towards early cancer detection, disease prognosis and personalized therapy. Irina V. Kondakova takes an active part in the Russian and International Conferences. She promotes achievements of her team abroad and gives talks at international symposia, conferences, and meetings. She pays much attention to the training of young scientists. Under her leadership, 7 dissertations for PhD degree and 3 dissertations for DSc degree were defended.

Achievements, awards, and grants

Irina V. Kondakova has an extensive experience in the management of projects on the role of biologically active molecules in the development of malignant tumors of various localizations. Under her supervision, the following scientific projects were implemented: "Intra- and extracellular proteolytic complexes of malignant neoplasms and their role in cancer metastasis”   (Russian Foundation for Basic Research (RFBR), № 08-04-00616); « Study of the role of the components of cancerous degradation in the pathogenesis of malignant neoplasms ", (Federal Target Program" Scientific and Scientific Pedagogical Staff of Innovative Russia" for 2009-2013, No. P320); "Locomotor proteins and regulation of their expression in tumors of the female reproductive system", (RFBR, No. 13-04-00169); "Fundamental aspects of the involvement of the system of insulin-like growth factors in the development of malignant tumors associated with the metabolic syndrome" (RFBR, No. 14-04-91150), "Actin-binding proteins: a relationship with the type of cell migration and neoplastic transformation of human epithelium", (RFBR No. 17 -04-00198A).
