Brief Biography

She graduated from the Faculty of Medicine and Biology of Tomsk Medical Institute (SSMU). Since 1985 she has been working at the Oncology Research Institute. She defended her Ph.D. thesis “The role of antioxidant enzymes in the regulation of tumor cell proliferation.” Since 2006 she has been working at Mental Health Research Institute. In 2016, she completed her internship, has a diploma of postgraduate professional education and a certificate of a specialist in the specialty “clinical laboratory diagnostics”. Under the supervision of Smirnova L.P. 4 Ph.D. theses were defended in the specialties “pathological physiology and biochemistry”, currently 2 Ph.D. theses are being carried out under her supervision.

Research Interests

The main scientific interests of Smirnova L.P. lie in the field of research into the involvement of oxidative stress in the pathogenesis of diseases, the study of the catalytic properties of antibodies in patients with mental disorders, and the analysis of blood serum proteomes in various mental disorders. The results of the work are aimed at studying the pathogenesis, searching for biological markers of mental illness and developing the criteria for the early differential diagnosis of mental disorders.
