Brief Biography

Irina Yu. Efimova graduated with honors from the Medical-Biological Faculty of the Tomsk State Medical University in 1990. After graduation, she worked as a Senior Technician in the Laboratory of Radionuclide Imaging Studies in Cardiology Research Institute. Then, she continued working at the laboratory as Junior Scientist (from 1991), Scientist (from 1995), Nuclear Medicine Physician (from 2000), and Senior Scientist (from 2010).

In 1995, she defended doctoral thesis titled “Scintigraphic evaluation of regional circulation disorders in patients with stenosing atherosclerosis of brachiocephalic arteries” for an academic degree of Candidate of Medical Sciences. In 2005, she defended doctoral thesis titled "Scintigraphic diagnostics of cerebral circulation disorders in the presence of atherosclerosis of brachiocephalic arteries, ischemic heart disease, and arterial hypertension" for an academic degree of Doctor of Medical Sciences.

Since 1992, she has been an Academic Secretary of Cardiology Research Institute.

Research Interests

Irina Yu. Efimova is an author of over 290 scientific works including two-volume “National Guidelines for Radionuclide Diagnostics”, manual titled “Radionuclide Diagnostics for Practicing Physicians”, book titled “Cognitive Dysfunction in Metabolic Syndrome”, and chapters in two multi-authored monographs. She holds three patents of invention.

Primary research interests of Irina Yu. Efimova comprise evaluation of cerebral circulation disorders in the presence of diseased brachiocephalic arteries, ischemic heart disease, and arterial hypertension based on the methods of radionuclide indication. 

Achievements, awards, and grants

Irina Yu. Efimova has received Tomsk Region Administration Award in the Field of Science and Education (1997, 2005). She was also awarded with the Commemorative Medal of Merit for her service to the City of Tomsk (2004), the Letter of Appreciation from the Governor of the Tomsk Region (2006), the Certificate of Merit from the Tomsk Region Administration (2013), and the Silver Commemorative Token of “Tomsk Region Arms” (2016).

Irina Yu. Efimova was an investigator for two projects supported by the Federal Target Program “Scientific and Academic Personnel of Innovative Russia” in 2009–2013 (government contracts N 14.740.11.0175 from September 15, 2010 and N 16.740.11.0171 from September 01, 2010).
